Why is it called a Safari? I guess you could cruise through the undesirable neighborhood. But Africa, not-so-much.

Apparently they were pretty decent off road with AWD and some mud tires. They have good ground clearance so maybe? Mine's RWD so I couldn't check to see if it's worthy of the name. There's press pictures of an Astro "offroading".

If your turning then floor it, yeah it will kick out. Maybe with a tuneup on mine i could pull a decent drift.

We had the ultimate 90's car. This color, too.
And my grandparents had two that matched.

The Safari name has exactly nothing to do with going on an actual Safari. Pontiac's wagons were called Safari's too...it all rolls together.

Pontiac and GMC were both selling a car named Safari at one point in time.

Mid-late 80s...my buddy's first car was a Pontiac Parisienne Safari Wagon. What a beast.
